Greatest Hits, Harlan Ellison, ed. Michael Straczynski (2024)
About half of these stories are brilliant. My favorite is "Jeffty is Five," about an irregularity in time, and loss of innocence, and nostalgia. For a short story (under 30 pages), it packs an emotional punch; younger readers may not feel it — the cultural references would be for them so distant. "How's the Night Life on Cissalda?" is laugh-out-loud funny. The stories i enjoyed less, i found difficult and abstract, but felt i was missing something. Given the strength of the ones i liked, the others may merit a second read.
